The future of our democracy is incumbent upon informed, engaged critical thinking youth in the government process. Therefore, the LWVA in partnership with the College of Alameda (CoA) has created the DEMOCRACY MATTERS: LWVA/CoA High School Civics Scholarship Program.
Demoracy Matters: LWVA/CoA High School Civics Scholarship Program presents the 2nd ANNUALHIGH SCHOOL CIVICS SPEECH TOURNAMENT
Judges: Alameda City Council Members, Marilyn Ezzy Ashcraft, Jim Oddie, CoA President Timothy Karas and Civil Litigation Attorney, Jane Yee and Joshua Quigley, District Director, representing Congresswoman Barbara Lee. The winner of the speech tournament will be awarded a $1000 scholarship. The runner up will receive a $500 scholarship. All participants will be given one college credit from the Communications Department at the College of Alameda.
