Review Our Voter Info

Key Info about CA Prop 50 (Election Rigging Response Act)

Mail-in ballots for registered voters will begin to arrive in early October 2025. Not registered to vote? The deadline to register online ahead of this election is Monday, 20 October, 2025. (If you miss it, you can go to your County Elections Office to cast a same day ballot.) The election date is Tuesday, 4 November 2025. Below are some key facts about California's Proposition 50.

  • ✅ Vote threshold: It needs a simple majority (over 50% “Yes” votes) to pass.

  • ❌ No super-majority required: It does not need 60% or two-thirds support.

  • 🗳️ What a “Yes” vote means: The legislature’s new congressional district map will be used for 2026–2030 elections, instead of the independent citizens’ commission’s map.

  • 🗳️ What a “No” vote means: The independent redistricting commission’s map stays in place.

  • ⏳ Temporary change: Even if it passes, the independent commission regains control of redistricting in 2031.

  • 🗺️ Districts 40 & 41 in Southern California are most affected. If you live in these areas, your congressional representation could change. Find out if your district is changing here
